Case Study:
Group Harmonics

Ed Muzio, called "one of the planet's clearest thinkers on management" by an international business editor, leads Group Harmonics with the promise of "higher output, lower stress, sustainable growth".

His award-winning books and culture change work deliver measurable results, even in the most challenging business environments.

Iterative Management® was
a paper based workshop

Ed envisioned greater scalability and a more realistic participant experience.
Problem 1:
A Paper Experience
The very manual and paper based workshop just wasn’t as scalable or “like real work” as Ed wanted.  Ed explained…
• The Facilitator manual was hard to lug around, and not as helpful to a new facilitator as it could be. The Participant materials need to be printed, and distributed.

• Participants interact with our materials in a disjointed way.  Literally we are handing out paper at specific times to make it feel real.
Problem 1:  A Paper Experience
How did Experience Builder help?
"No more Facilitator Manual!
We don't need it with the built in Facilitator features (facilitator content, facilitation notes, WYSIWYG participant experience)."

"No more printing.
Instead, all participant materials are now directly in ExperienceBuilder– just where participants need them.  Instead of handing out printed materials about the case study, participants interact with the case study as they navigate through the experience episodes."

"We brought the materials to life by immersing participants in the content it feels like their real work."
Problem 2:
Virtual workshop
When Group Harmonic's clients need to role out Iterative Management® fast, or when travel to a workshop location is just not in the cards, virtual facilitation is critical. In this case using a web conference tool is a must. However, the typical tools (Teams, Zoom) were presenting issues:
• "Using MicroSoft Teams, participants are distracted by all the other things going on in their organization"." The collaboration features in the web conference tools are designed for meetings, not immersive learning."

• The manual set up for each workshop requires extra steps in the conference tools... so more work for facilitators, and more place for quality issues..
Problem 2:  Virtual workshop
How did Experience Builder help?
"We eliminated using our client's web conferencing tools by using ExperienceBuilder's built in virtual room, which is designed for learning. (No distractions)

We also eliminated the need to pre-load files by using ExperienceBuilder's built in work files and task collaboration features. (No need to load files because they're already in the experience)."

Problem 3:
Maintaining the Standard
As Group Harmonics certifies their client's facilitators, it's imperative new facilitators are equipped to guide participants successfully through the Iterative Management® experience while keeping quality high, participant learning on point, and ensuring consistentency across facilitators.

Additionally, as Ed continuously improves the experience, updates need to be available immediately with no hassle for his clients.
Problem 3:  Maintaining the Standard
How did Experience Builder help?
"With Experience Builder, the experience IS the standard, the episode content contains the expertise, and facilitation features support facilitators every step of the way.

As the Builder, I can make improvements to episode content or facilitator support and know that all client facilitators are immediately equipped to succeed."
